Did you know that private wells are not regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act? That means it’s up to private well owners to test and maintain their well water systems. The University of Minnesota Extension Private Well Education Program is hosting its first drinking water testing clinic in collaboration with Well Aware in northwest Minnesota this February, followed by a workshop in March. Testing for arsenic, lead, manganese, nitrate and total coliform bacteria will be offered, along with practical education on water quality, health and caring for your water system.
