RUSLE2-Introduction

Description

This hands-on class is intended for Technical Service Providers. It introduces the RUSLE2 soil loss model, how it works and the data necessary to run the program. The class also provides an overview of the soil erosion process so that participants will have a better understanding of what the program is modeling. Information will also be provided about other outputs from this program, including the Soil Conditioning Index and the Energy Estimator, and how these tools can be used in the conservation planning process.

Who Should Attend?

Technical Service Providers and other agronomists who work with producers to implement some portion of conservation planning including residue management recommendations; work on Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans (CNMPs), write nutrient management plans, etc. and need to have knowledge of soil erosion and how it is predicted or modeled.

Pre-requisites

Participants will need to bring their own laptops and install the software in the first hour of this session.
