University of Minnesota Stormwater Activities
Model for Stormwater ManagementMaster Planning ProcessThe University of Minnesota will be updating its Master Plan in 2006-2007, the document that guides campus planning and development, a plan for "growing our campus, rather than building buildings." Part of this innovation will include a thoughtful evaluation of how to integrate ecological factors into campus development. Stormwater will be one of these ecological factors that will be addressed by the master planning subcommittee on Natural Features and Open Spaces. The St. Paul Master Ecology Plan, which highlights stormwater and its role in the teaching and research missions of the University St. Paul Master Ecology Plan. Best Management Practices for Stormwater ManagementThe University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus (UMTC) has formalized its approach to stormwater management within the template required for the MPCA permit process, using the Minimum Control Measures for organizing its Best Management Practices (BMPs): Minimum Control Measure 1: PUBLIC EDUCATION AND OUTREACH, pdf, 387 KB Minimum Control Measure 2: PUBLIC PARTICIPATION/INVOLVEMENT, pdf, 138 KB These BMPs are part of the UMTC's' submittal of a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (pdf, 25 KB) that includes some other required provisions, as part of its application for its MS4 permit (pdf, 114 KB). The sum of these documents as finalized will constitute the UMTC's requirements under the General MS4 Permit (pdf, 190 KB). | ||
