Assessment of Stormwater Best Management Practices
Infiltration Practices
Infiltration practices reduce stormwater runoff and retain stormwater pollutants by infiltrating stormwater into the soil. Assessment methods for infiltration practices include visual inspection, capacity testing, synthetic runoff testing, and monitoring. For example, one method of capacity testing for infiltration practices estimates the rate at which stormwater runoff seeps into the soil by examining a network of permeability point measurements. Results estimate the rate at which stormwater runoff is infiltrated and subsequently whether the infiltration practice requires repair or replacement. The Assessment Protocol describes assessment methods for the following infiltration practices:
-
Infiltration Trenches
-
Infiltration Basins
-
Porous Pavements
