Assessment of Stormwater BMPs Manual

The University of Minnesota (U of M), through contract with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), is developing a Guidance Document that will outline and explain proper methodology for the assessment of stormwater best management practices (BMPs). The document promotes the "Four Levels of Assessment" which increase in difficulty and cost from 1 to 4:

  1. Visual Inspection
  2. Capacity Testing
  3. Synthetic Runoff Testing
  4. Monitoring

The Guidance Document has organized existing stormwater BMPs into categories according to the process by which pollutants are removed from stormwater runoff:
