The purpose of the workshop was to bring together researchers, state decision makers, practitioners and citizen representatives to understand the current state of research in managing Minnesota’s surface water and identifying gaps in information and knowledge that can be bridged through additional research. The research was divided into the four broad categories:

  • Setting standards and assessing waters
  • Total Maximum Daily Load Studies
  • Implementation
  • Effectiveness Monitoring
