Karlyn Eckman
WRC Projects: Social indicators project; social vulnerability assessment in the Great Lakes region; and the Mekong-Mississippi Partnership. Karlyn works part-time with a regional team in EPA’s region 5 to develop and test a framework of socioeconomic indicators designed for the US Clean Water Act section 319 (nonpoint source pollution). The framework will be tested and adapted for 319 projects in urban and rural Minnesota. Karlyn is an adjunct professor in the Department of Forest Resources and Hydrology, and a commissioner representing the City of Saint Paul on the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization (http://www.mwmo.org). Current areas of work and research include social indicators; vulnerability assessment in the lower Mekong basin; global “hotspots” analysis; and monitoring and evaluation methodologies. Karlyn has a Ph.D. (1994) in forestry and watershed management from the University of Minnesota. | |||
